Esther’s story in the Old Testament is known for making no mention of God.
There’s a lot more to it than that! This evening event will explore this unusual, dramatic and engaging tale, which is granted little time by the lectionary.
Hear it read in full and reflect together on contemporary themes that arise - such as gender inequality; abuse of power; manipulation; the sanctuary enjoyed by elites; the hidden-ness of God.
This evening will develop Whirlow’s interest in rejuvenating a communal experience of Christian scripture, as experienced at Song of Songs Live in May 2018.
Including presentations, opportunity for reflection and response - and refreshments!
