Whirlow looks forward to welcoming the Muskoka Wind Quintet and its audience on September 23rd.
The concert, at 7.30pm, will feature ensemble pieces and flute solos by Poulenc, Haydn, Mascagni and more.
The concert is the fourth of Whirlow’s new (for 2017) Music for the Spirit series. The centre, home to the highly successful ‘We who sing pray twice’ events for many years, is introducing chamber-style, classical music to its programme.
The spirituality inherent in music and human creativity complements and celebrates the unique atmosphere and ideal setting of our ‘hidden’ Chapel venue.
The Muskoka Quintet has been together since 2001, giving frequent recitals in Sheffield and Derbyshire. They play a wide range from the exciting and demanding wind quintet repertoire – from Haydn to Elbow – and aim to present music in accessible and enjoyable ways. Flute soloist Kathryn Hathaway will be accompanied by Tom James.
