The Chapel of the Holy Spirit will become the setting for 6 different ‘landscaped’ areas which will be used as metaphors for the landscapes of our inner lives:
We may find ourselves in bleak, barren deserts where life is harsh; we may climb to the mountain tops where life is exhilarating or find ourselves entangled in thick forests where we lose our way; the rivers of our lives may run in torrents, threatening to overwhelm with their power or the water may flow gently to provide places of calm and rest; the seashore reminds us of transition and change which can be exciting, scary – or both! A central oasis will provide rest and relief from journeying.
This workshop will help us to recognise our own inner landscape and look for ways to negotiate difficulties while appreciating the beauty of being a created child of God.
The chapel landscapes may look the same for everyone but our inner landscapes are unique and intensely personal so most of the day will be in silence though some small group sharing will give an opportunity for mutual support and encouragement.
Although we won’t be leaving the building, participants are asked to consider what they might take on a day out in the countryside – bag, umbrella, plasters for blistered feet, a phone, map or compass?
You are invited to bring one item with you (small and practical!) and be prepared to share why that is your choice – this will be the basis for the initial period of group work in the morning.
The day will begin at 10am and close at approx 4pm. Please bring your own lunch, drinks are provided.
