This series introduces various ways of praying to those who may not have experienced them. It is intended for those who want to enrich their prayer life. Each evening will begin with a brief introduction and then move into the prayer experience. Refreshments will be available from 7.30 pm.
At the end of the evening there will be an opportunity, if you wish, to share in small groups how the experience felt for you, and give some feedback to the whole group, but this part will be entirely optional.
Praying with Story
Led by Sheila Walters who has chosen to use the story of Jonah rather than any 'secular story. She writes, '
'We invite you to pray with the Story of Jonah. It is a well-known story from the Old Testament. Can we enjoy letting our imagination roam free to enjoy the drama?
The Jonah narrative is a story of a prophet who ran away as far as he could but ended up being challenged again to return to the task. Why did he run away at all?
The story of Jonah is a strange story. Even as a child I thought that surely Jonah would be digested in the whale or suffocated. What happened to Jonah in that time of darkness? Read the story again in preparation and make the connections for yourself.
