Inspired by Thomas Merton and working mostly in acrylics, through colour, shape and the paint’s texture, Robert Wright explores a contemplative, inward, non-literal vision and invites the viewer to participate and ponder. Just when something appears to be clear, other deeply evocative colours, spaces and perspectives open up to challenge the viewer.
Robert is self-taught and cites Kandinsky, Nicholson, Rothko, Scully and Frost as major influences. He has held ten solo exhibitions and contributed to shared exhibitions in London, Hereford and Oxfordshire. His paintings are held in private collections in the UK, the USA, Holland and France.
