The Chapel at Whirlow Spirituality Centre is a place for peace, quiet and reflection and is open to all.
There is seating for 40 and the space can accommodate 60 for larger events. The Chapel is fully equipped and wired for sound, has flat level access, a hearing loop and underfloor heating. A high quality electric piano is also available for use.
Whirlow Spirituality Centre has its own well-tended gardens where visitors are welcome to sit and walk. Whirlow Spirituality Centre at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit is a member of the Quiet Garden Movement. The centre is peacefully set on the edge of Sheffield with walks in local wood and farmlands and easy access to the Peak District.
The lounge looks out onto a small patio and garden, as well as having facilities for making hot drinks.
Visitors are welcome to make use of our library - home to over 1,500 books on spirituality and related subjects – during quiet days and retreats. A simple borrowing system allows you to take books home with you for a period of up to 3 months.
The Quiet Room is a small, confidential room suitable for up to 4 people to meet, or for spiritual accompaniment or supervision meetings. It is ideal for use as a 'hermitage', should you be looking for space to take time out, a day or half day, alone with God.
There are coffee/tea making facilities in the room, or alternately use the facilities in the Lounge. It is available for hire on a sessional basis (£5 per morning or afternoon or evening) - phone 0114 235 3704 to discuss its suitability and availability.
Our resources room has cloths, candles, pebbles, shells and a range of other materials for those wanting to create a focus for prayer and reflection. They can also to be borrowed on a short term basis for use off site. Please contact us for more information.
